Holy moly it is December you guys! I can't believe it! I have one more Minwax project to share with you and it is super simple and perfect for winter. It helped me complete my Christmas decor.
I don't buy a lot of new holiday decorations because I try to use what I already have to keep cost down and because I have to store it all somewhere and storage is at a premium. I do, however, make a few new things so I can change things up from year to year. One of the things I made new for this year is a sign to cover the TV when it is not in use. If you remember from a few years ago, I made this artwork for my Fall mantel. Instead of creating a whole new sign, I used the backside of this one!
My theme for this year is "snowflakes" and this sign turned out so well I will probably leave it up all winter even after Christmas is over.
Because I already had the ⅛" plywood cut to size, all I had to do was lightly sand the plywood and then stain it using Early American by Minwax. I chose it because it is one of my "go to" colors but it ended up matching the pine cones and gingerbread really well!
I only did one coat since I wanted to see the wood grain really well. I use a foam brush to apply it, I wait about 10 minutes, and then I wiped it off with paper towels.
Once it had dried, I added vinyl stencils I had cut out with my vinyl cutter. If you don't have a vinyl cutter, you can use regular stencils like these from Amazon.
I use foam brushes for this as well. Basically I use them for everything and buy them in bulk :)
Once dry, or at least mostly dry, I gently peel the stencils off.
The best thing about this is that it takes up very little storage space. It can slide behind our fireplace when not in use.
I used the recipe I found last year to make the gingerbread house and gingerbread man. My house smelled so good! It is the best recipe.
I will be sharing my home all decorated for Christmas soon! I can't wait :) Is your home all decorated yet?
This post was sponsored by Minwax but all ideas, thoughts, and opinions are all mine :)

Love this display the snowflake board is cool but I really like the gingerbread in the jars. Very simple and festive!!
great look to you décor. I really like the fresh clean look but you have not sacrificed the welcome homey look with that fresh clean look. Merry Christmas.
Beautiful, elegant and simple. Love it so much.
Beautiful! Love the whole thing. Love that stain color--I can see why it's your "go to" color. Love the combo of greens and woodsy things and glass and gingerbread and the balance of the whole thing. Giant pinecones!
Stacy,
it is a very cute board! And I love that you can customize as seasons change!
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Stacy,
I love the look of the white paint on the early american stain! So easy, and so pretty! I love your entire mantel.

Love this mantel idea, esp. to change it up and personalize it for each season. It looks very pretty and love the gingerbread characters. Visiting from Talk of the Town party.
