My sink is a standard double sink size in width. The depth is 6". I had a 6.5" before and it worked too. The dishwasher top tray is shallower than a regular one. This allows for room for the pipes.

We put a cabinet next to the dishwasher. It is a pull out garbage can. The we cut a panel out of the side of the cabinet with a hinge. That way we can pull the garbage can out and easily access the pipes. We also put one of those moisture alarms under the cabinet to go off in case there is a leak. I hope that helps!

Thanks

How easy is access to the pluming of the sink? Would you have to remove the dishwasher to replace the faucet?

I have had a GE under sink dishwasher in my New York City apartment and now one in my house on Cape Cod. When I renovated the Cape Cod kitchen I did want an under mount sink and had one custom made by Elkay. It was expensive, but it was worth it. I was able get a heavier gage stainless steel too to provide a more solid and a less tinny sound. In the long term the extra money for the sink is worth it, especially if you have a composite or stone/quartz counter top.

Do you have any pictures of this? I'm desperate for a visual as I'm wanting to install something similar, but I'm having a hard time believing it would work in a 36 inch cabinet without the sink being offset/custom sink?

I love this but I'm not completely sure it'd work for me. So where are the drain pipes for the sink located?

I just went and measured from the floor to the underside of my counter and it is exactly 34". I am not sure if the newer models are different though. Mine is several years old and they could have made changes. If it is a matter of 1/4" - 1/2", it might be easier to install a new sink that is 6" instead of 6.5" deep than to rip out the tile. Plus the tile is helping to waterproof the floor underneath it.
I hope that helps!

Hi, I am searching for a solution to my problem (where to put a dishwasher in an old kitchen where it doesn't go!) and ran across your blog. How cast in stone are these specs that they give in the documentation? I have a 6.5 inch sink bowl, and I might just make the height requirement at 34 inches (NOT 34 1/4 without cutting tile). My countertop seems to be 2 inches not 1.5 but I'm unclear how that matters if the DW is below the counter. Do you think it is doable with those specs? Any advice welcome, and thanks!

I currently have an offset drain. I'm not sure if it is required, I just prefer offset so that is what I chose.

Elkay has a 6” deep sink, my concern is I want a double sink so I can also have a garbage disposal. And from the looks of it the double sink would need to have an offset drain to work with this dishwasher.

Don’t you have to have an offset drain in order for this to work?

Don’t you have to have an off set drain too on the sink?

I'm not 100% sure. I just know it has to be 6.5" deep or less. I have a 6" sink.

The sinks need to be 6" or 6.5" deep in order for the dishwasher to fit.

Can you use an under mount sink?

After four months, I discovered water under her stove. The water was coming from the waste water under sink. I pulled the dish washer out and discovered a horrible plumbing job (which cost $500). The connection to the sink drain is lower than the height of the washer. They forced the washer in comprising the connections to the waste pipe causing leak. Not sure if it’s possible to make the sink drain not hang so low hitting the washer.
